Terms of Service

Thank you for using Roled. By creating an account or using the Roled platform (the “Service”), you agree to the following Terms of Service. Please take a moment to read them carefully.

Using Roled

Roled is a platform for managing user identities, roles, and permissions across your applications. It is available as a managed cloud service at roled.io, or as a self-hosted solution you can run on your own infrastructure.

These Terms apply specifically to the Roled Cloud managed service. If you run Roled on your own infrastructure, your use is governed by the terms of the open source license included with the software.

To use Roled Cloud, you must be at least 18 years old (or the applicable age of majority in your jurisdiction), and you must have the authority to accept these Terms on behalf of your organization where applicable. Your use of the Service must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including API keys, client secrets, and access tokens. Please do not share these with anyone who should not have access. If you suspect that your account has been compromised, please notify us promptly at support@roled.io. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

Your Data

You retain full ownership of all data you submit through the Service, including role mappings, project configurations, and user identifiers. We use your data solely to operate and improve the Service, and we do not sell it to third parties.

If you choose the Decoupled (Bring Your Own Users) integration model, Roled stores only role assignments and external user identifiers. Your users’ primary profiles and credentials remain within your own systems.

Early Adopter Plan

Roled Cloud is currently available at no cost under our Early Adopter Plan. By participating, you acknowledge the following:

  • You receive full access to the platform to build and deploy your projects.
  • The platform is continuously evolving. Features may be updated or refined over time, and we will communicate significant changes in advance.
  • No formal uptime SLA is provided during this phase.
  • Should we introduce paid plans in the future, we will provide at least 30 days’ notice before any charges become applicable.

Acceptable Use

We ask that you use Roled in a responsible and lawful manner. The following activities are not permitted:

  • Using the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or harmful purpose.
  • Attempting to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the platform or its infrastructure.
  • Attempting to access other users’ accounts or data without authorization.
  • Reselling or redistributing Roled Cloud as a standalone identity service without prior written permission.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to accounts that do not comply with these expectations.

Intellectual Property

The Roled name, logo, and brand assets are the property of the Roled platform. The underlying source code is available under an open source license on GitHub.

If you submit feedback, bug reports, or feature suggestions, you grant us permission to use that input to improve the Service.

No Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We make every effort to keep the platform reliable and available, but we cannot guarantee that it will be error-free or uninterrupted at all times.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid us in the preceding 12 months, or USD $100 if you are using the Service under the free Early Adopter Plan. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages such as lost profits, data loss, or business interruption.

Termination

You may close your account and stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated, with reasonable notice where circumstances allow. In cases involving an active security risk, we may act without prior notice.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in the Service or applicable requirements. For significant changes, we will notify you by email or through the Console at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
